I'm trying to save some memory on my S1 VPS package. The 'top' command is listing the iscsiuio process as using 32Mb of memory. After Googling this seems to be a driver for the Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet adapter. Do I need this on my VPS? More specifically, has anyone tried disabling this?

Well I have disabled both the iscsi and iscsid daemons using 'chkconfig iscsi off' and 'chkconfig iscsid off'. The iscsiuio process has disappeared and my memory use has dropped by 80-100Mb without any obvious side effects. MySQL, tomcat and httpd (Apache) are still working fine.

I'll update if I find any issues.

iscsi is related to drive stuff, it's not really needed, but if you want extensive disk statistics, I believe it needs to be running.
