domain-4free.com

You can get a free domain with them, they sent me the following e-mail:
hi,

today 53 .page.tl - subdomains got a real domain.

we can now say, what you need to get a real domain:

your subdomain myblueinc.page.tl only needs more than 30 visitors a
day (for 1 week), then you will automatically get the myblueinc.com.

greets,
benjamin lochmann

Pretty cool, if you have 30 people clicking this link myblueinc.page.tl for one week they'll buy a domain for you!! Of course your site will have ads like .tk domains.. but this is cool if you want a domain..

Eugh, I really do despise these kind of "schemes"... It's not like domains are expensive? Why not spend that little extra bit on your domain, and gain the respect that comes with owning one, without having to have ads placed all over your site. Anyway, I would guess that the domain they give you is just a redirection? Perhaps with cloaking? To be honest, I would want full control over it.... Host it on my own nameservers and such.

Well, thats my moaning for today... Apart from that, it's a good deal :hsughr:

I agree with Woolie. It's really not that expensive for a domain if you know where to look and you can get one without ads and you actually own it for a cheap price. I wouldn't like to have a domain name that I don't have control over - I'd rather own it myself.
If you're a beginner, it sounds like a pretty fair deal.

Yeah, I guess I have 5 domains that I own by the way..

But some people out there don't have a credit card, so they cannot get domains that easily. So this would be an option for them I guess.

It isnt a bad method to get a free domain, but I doubt their reliability in service, as in their company background, service support. Many times we have seen web host and these free services grow like mushroom after the rain, but gone the next day.

Therefore I'll still be using something reliable, like .tk or .co.nr which has been in this scene for more than a year.

I'm not saying other services are bad, but people should really do some research on the service's background and signup for it. Otherwise, it would be a waste of time if the company pulls plug within a short term.

Actually there support is quite fast by email, as soon as I sent my application, the owner of this 'scheme' said he denied me becuase I already had a domain (i.e. www.blue-inc.org) But if I didn't have a domain he would have accepted me (e.g. if I had a subdomain, co.nr etc) I emailed back and said fair enough, and I said I was only testing this service out, and I said I'd advertise it in forums like this. And he replied with a thank you. There emailing is fast.

Also they're trying to make money with this, so they have a small google ad at the top of your page. If they're making money out of your domain I don't think they're going to pull the plug on you, they'd lose out.. ;-)

Well if they aren't that expensive then can you buy me one?

www.thejeffsta.com will do :p

They are expensive for people that don't believe in credit cards or do not have access to a credit card or are like me and end up spending it all and going into bankruptcy.
