If I purchase a domain from a different website will I be able to use it with my free hosting? I don't just want to use it as a URL redirect but when people visit my site I want it to be (thedomainibuy).com/html.php and not the subdomain.

Set the nameservers to

ns1.x10hosting.com
ns2.x10hosting.com

the propagation may take upto 48 hours

Then
Make the domain as your primary domain in your account panel http://x10hosting.com/control

OR
park the domain in your cpanel

OR
Add as addon domain in your cpanel.
