Hello, I would like your opinion.

Would you rather buy a domestic (Daimler Chrysler{Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler}, Ford{Ford, Mercury, Lincoln}, Chevy{Chevy, GMC, Cadillac, Pontiac, Hummer}) or would you by an import (Toyota {Toyota, Lexus}, Honda {Honda, Acura}, Subaru, Kia, etc).

I would choose a domestic car, as they support the United States, built in the U.S., are usually better quality, and more powerful engines. Of course the big downer to domestic cars is there "low" gas mileage. Of course, with gas being at $2.65 /gallon I wouldn't care.

What would you buy though?

Domestic as in United States.
Imports are any other country's.

So if you live in Japan, a Domestic would be Honda, Toyota, etc, but in this survey it would be an import.

Daimler Chrysler is domestic? I thought it could potentially be an import, as Mercedes Benz are made in Germany.. also, Daimler Chrysler is now Daimler AG since Chrysler was sold to Cerberus. Chrysler will be known as Chrysler LLC

And the ironic thing about GM/Ford, more than half of their cars are made in Mexico, so if anything they are imports  So if anything, they're helping the Mexican economy much more than ours; I suggest you watch the Michael Moore movie "Roger and Me" and shows the devastating effect of GM abandoning Detroit. Meanwhile, Toyotas and Hondas are manufactured in the U.S., and so essentially they're domestic!

So seeing as how there's a conflict in what is defined as "domestic" and "import", I'm not sure how I can answer that. But I would definitely pick a Honda, Toyota, or Mini over anything else!

About the Toyotas and Hondas, i see them all made in Japan. Just look at the vin they start with

1 or 4 / United States
2 / Canada
3 / Mexico
W / Germany
Z / Italy
J / Japan

Most Toyota's/Honda's I see are 'J', so the manufacture would be Japan. Except for 1 ford in my year, our Cadillac and other Ford are '1'.

Take a look at your car, find out;).

Also, there's no away around this.

Most cars are imports here so I must say I would chose an import car. But I would still go with something not from US, going for Toyota, Honda, Subaru, etc... Most of the time, they are smaller cars and also have more eco-friendly solutions (electric, hybrid, etc...).

I'm very picky when it comes to cars. To be perfectly honest, I don't like very many imports at all... that being said, by no means do I like all domestics.

I absolutely love the Mustang (if you can't tell). I have a silhouette of the Mustang logo tattooed on my left shoulder. I also like a lot of the GM trucks, with the exceptions of the Colorados and the new body style Silverados... that new body style is nasty.

But if I had to simply choose between import or domestic I'd choose domestic.

I would support american car companies if I had the money. Right now I am too young for my license. But I think Ford is the best of the bunch...

Domestic. My grandfather worked for Chrysler years ago, my family drives Chrysler, so it's just natural for me.

But really, a car's purpose is to get you from point a to point b. So, if I find something of better value and quality, then I'll buy it regardless of company or country, though I'll look at Chrysler first.

I live in India, and I would go for domestic cars, they are made keeping the conditions, weather, roads etc and they come cheaper when compared to Imports which we must handle with care. Also in India the steering is on the right side, when compared to imported cars which usually contain left side steering...

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but the US has the least strict automobile laws out of all 1st world countries. There is few laws governing emisions and consumption.
The states is the biggest contributor to C02, a great part of this is due to your automobile laws.

I would rather by a car from a country that takes in to account the daily damage it does on the enviroment.

Evos are always a good bet. Would rather have GTR skyline though.
