DVD Problems

I have a problem with my dvd burner... I've been trying to make a movie for a school project but I only successfully burn the dvd like 50% of the time. I have no clue why. I was using Nero 6.

The first 5 or so tries were successful, then the next 5 were not....
Anyone wanna help me out?

I've done a virus and spyware scan already and came up clean.

I have sufficient hard drive space available too

are the dvd's used? (stupid question I know)

also does it have to be DVD can you do like vcd (video cd) Nero 6 has that option to make a vcd

no, the dvd's werent used (they were rw too)... when it asked to clear the data i clicked yes, it started to burn, then like sometiem during the burning process, it says burn unsuccessful

and my project wont fit on vcd....
