E-Mails

I have a suggestion...

Use an e-mail system to tell users when a big change is coming.

Such as...
"Hi, we are about to move the entire server. Just thought you'd like to know. We are going to start at 12 PM EST, August 8th, 2006."

It's happened to me tons of times when you people do something that changes my website, and I have no clue what happened. Not only is an e-mail useful, but respective. Users shouldn't have to scour the forums searching for future changes.

At least set up a mailing list for the paying customers.

You could subscribe the the News & Announcments forum, that way you will be notified of new topics that are created there... as long as all announcements are made accordingly.

his point is good however, just sending an email to every member that has an account would take out the server itself, wouldn't it?

I think Corey made this forum so that all the announcements could be posted here and members are required to log in at least every 2 weeks to make sure they don't miss any announcements. Also it makes the forum a bit more active.

The emails to members is a nice idea but may not fit into x10hosting's policy.

Am on one forum where whenever the admin makes a post in the announcement section in the forums, every member gets it in the email. But in that forum you don't have to log in every 2 weeks. :) So we don't have to log in

Very important news are always emailed to the contact email set in cpanel. However, server changes and thigs like that are the reason you have to read the forums at least once a week.

at my last count there were over 1500 accounts on the free server. It would take a while to email EVERY account owner on the server. Not to mention that the mail server could be shut down for the act of spam. and if they did monitor how many per hour they sent out it would take almost a day or more. That is why they don't send out many emails
