Email & Own Domain

Hi all

OK, so my email is still broken after many weeks. Im using my own domain, which works perfectly for the HTTP. I have setup an email account on the x10 CPanel, but I cannot recieve or send email to or from that account, either in Outlook or in Horde.

Do I need to do anything in 1and1 (the people who host my domain) to get this email working correctly? The only option I have is Forward when trying to setup an email address there.

as long as the name servers point to x10's you should be ok, if they dont then that would probably mean mail wont arrive.

The nameservers are pointing to ns1.x10hosting.com and ns2.x10hosting.com. I think these are correct otherwise HTTP traffic wouldnt work, yet still no email. Any ideas?

Not necessarily the case, you can just point the names of the domain to specific IPs.

Whats the domain? Does it have an MX record setup if you parked it?

The domain is www.component-warehouse.co.uk. I just changed the settings to the 1and1 name servers, so have set the A records to my server IP address, does anyone know the settings for email?

BTW, I havent changed any of the MX settings in CPanel.

Hmm ok, when did you change your name servers? It can take 72 hours to run through properly, depending on where you try and send the mails from.

I have changed them about 3 hours ago now - The status has changed in the 1and1 panel from updating to ready. Although now I have no MX record, and it is set to the standard 1and1 one. What should I enter here?

OK, everything is now set back to ns1.x10hosting.com and ns2.x10hosting.com. When I try to send email from Horde, this is the error message I get:

There was an error sending your message: Failed to send data [SMTP: Invalid response code received from server (code: 503, response: All RCPT commands were rejected with this error: Temporary local problem - please try later Valid RCPT command must precede DATA)]

Any ideas?

name server changes take a good while to go through, please allow 72 hours before you worry anything isnt working.

OK, the nameservers have updated, all to ns1.x10hosting.com and ns2.x10hosting.com in my 1and1 account. I have waited for them to change, and now say ready as status, so should work, yet I still get an error 451 Temporary local problem - please try later.

Why?
