http://burnjob.info/ - free account

Hi again,
I'm still having some issues with my email function - even after I input the settings that were suggested by a user in this forum

As best as I can tell I have entered the settings in correctly as were provided for me ... please let me know if I entered anything in incorrectly.

here's the error displayed on webpages when an email is attempted:
Could not connect to smtp host : 110 : Connection timed out
DEBUG MODE
Line : 112
File : smtp.php
I looked in the smtp.php and line 112 is simply the error message line

here are my phpbb2 email config settings:
Admin Email Address (info@burnjob.info)
Email Signature (irrelevant)
Use SMTP Server for email (yes)
SMTP Server Address (mail.burnjob.info)
SMTP Username (info@burnjob.info)
SMTO Password (*****)

Within the General Admin Configuration section:
User Email via board (enabled)

Thats all I can find for email settings ... please let me know if you need anything other information

any thoughts?

Hi,

I just did a test connect to port 110 on the server and it's working fine. I'm guessing you already created info@burnjob.info in your cPanel.

I'm going to run some mail maintenance scripts right now that will fix any messed up permissions. It will probably take about an hour.

If it still does not work after that you might have to seek help from the script creator as I'm not sure what is wrong.

sounds good corey ... thanks for your assistance

i was thinking that there might be an error within the php but since i only really understand a little html and css i didn't want to attempt to track down the prob as it's over my head to dive into the php

really impressed with your support here corey ... i think it's excellent and i've been posting about it over at a favourite site ... thanks again

Hi Corey ... i had info@burnjob.info in as the address ... but just in case i did ? 'something' wrong i deleted it and set up a new email using the exact same address - info@burnjob.info

i tried sending two emails, about 5 minutes after i set up the email again and about minutes apart, to the address and both were returned with the following info (let me know if you want the header info also):

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification

It would have helped if I used burnjob.info instead of .com

I resent it, hasn't bounced back to me yet.

No, still nothing there ... i tried sending a couple also and they just bounce back

i assume that the default mail settings should permit all mail to come through and 'then' one would start setting up rules and filters right?

thanks

Yes, you are correct. I'm going to change your domain to something else, remove the burnjob.info entries and change it back so it recreates them all.

Heh Corey;
Just an update.

There was still no change in being able to send email from within the forum so i thought i'd try using localhost for the SMTP Server Address and it fixed it.

So incase you get a help request again for something similar then there's something to toss into the back of your mind that you can draw on later.

Thanks again for your help - GREAT support here,
Peter
