Error connecting to sql database

Hi -I had this error today connecting to the sql database
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock'(11).

Can you pls tell me what's going on. And how to fix this problem?

I assume you are on Chopin (or maybe Cossacks or Boru)

At least on Chopin, MySQL has been off and on most of the day. Works fine. Then a 500 error. Then no DB connection. Then works fine.

Just have to wait I guess.
