Error Establishing a Database Connection in WordPress

I lost my password for my account so changed the PW. Website worked fine.

I reset my mysql database pw with phpadmin in users to be the same as in wp_config.php but with md5 encoding now I cannot connect.

Does it need to be re-imported at your end?

The database user password should be in plain text in the wp_config.php file, not md5 encoded.
