I tried to update my domain using the account management controls but received the following error:

An Error Has Occurred
Whoops, it appears that there was an error modifying your domain. The errors are listed below.
  • Whm error: account server id does not match the package's server id. in theory, this should never happen. :-( (code modifydomain_2)
You may attempt to correct any errors that occurred after continuing.

I was trying to change my domain from frankshinn.com to www.frankshinn.com.
my cpanel username is franko

please help

It should work now, but you should NEVER set the domain with the "www.".
Your domain is configured correctly in our end. It will work with and without "www." as it's set-up.
The thing is that your domain is not pointing to the right place, and that's why it's giving you the Apache/cPanel page.

You need to set nameservers to point to:
ns1.x10hosting.com
ns2.x10hosting.com
Or set an A record for your domain pointing to the IP: 74.86.240.236

I set up the A record as follows

www - 74.86.240.236

I now receive a not found error when I try to browse to the site.

I do not want to set up the name servers because I have Google handling my email for this domain and the last time I set up the name servers, x10 assumed control of email and I missed a week's worth of email messages.

Your website: http://www.frankshinn.com/ works fine for me.
Title of the website is: "Youth@SaintAndrews".

Clear your cache, temporary files, flush your DNS and try again.

You can also delegate MX records using x10hosting (this is done by cPanel), and you can request us to set CNAME records for you. So you could still use Google to handle your email even if you set the nameservers to x10hosting.
