Do you believe in Religion or Evoloution?

I believe in Evoloution as im Athesist and i believe we are the super race and we develped through life our self.
I think that God is a way to turn if you can't find the answer to something and you need to believe there is something out there that can help.

No personal attack meant.

i wouldn't consider this a personal attack, but i'd like to try to see what athiests view. [soapbox]How do you think we got here if there was no God? It's not like we popped out of a cocoon one day and said "yay i'm alive". Also, what i believe is that when we are sent down from heaven (i'm a Latter-day Saint)we can't remember what happened up there, but we know there was big war, and that everybody had a choice. They could come down here and be tested, or stay and be condemned to hell. Obviously everyone who's here now and has been and will be chose to come down and be tested. [/soapbox]

Lol the topic name is technically a misnomer; it should be evolution vs. creationism since I know many people who have a religious affiliation and believe in evolution

Definitely evolution. We have scientific proof of evolution, it should be globally accepted with no excuses.

The only thing that should be debated is how the universe was created (cause and effect).

I believe we evolved from smaller creatures and other the years we learnt and we grew and slowly making our way to these 2 legged walking beats that we are today XD

I don't think that religion relly has much going for it. Yes, they can use the argument of "Where did the universe come from?", but atheists can just say "Where did God come from?". We have no proof for either argument, but 99% of the evidence points towards evolution. This does not rule out the existance of God, but I feel it is unlikely for there to be an omnipotent, omnipresent being out there which created everything in the known universe.

Sorry if this offended anyone.

I stand to differ from the recurring view above. I will stand by the Bible as the authoritative Word of God. Genesis chapter 1 clearly outlines that God created the earth and every living thing upon the earth. I cannot accept a theory (evolution) over the Divine Revelation from God. I also know that I will give an account of my life at the judgement day and I will be responsible if I forsake Christ during my life.

If you have any questions about the creation/evolution debate, check out www.answersingenesis.org.

i definately believe in evolution rather than creation. i really did try to believe in god; but i just got more and more cynical on the subject over time. and if there is a god, i don't think he really cares about anything here.

How can you not believe in Evolution when there were enough evidence for it. If there were not evoltuon we wouldnt even be on this forum... :squint:

God is not a way you turn. I think you mean Faith right?

Right... Hinduism states the three gods created earth. Athiest states Earth was created by evolution which clearly has alot of evidence of. Buddhism states the Earth was created by evoltion also. Think of other religions too dude.

Note aside: (This is not a attack) Not many people are beleiving in God now. Check out the calenders! They are changing B.C.D to B.C.A! And A.C is not after christ its A---something.

Must be different in your country; in the U.S. it is a change from BC to BCE (not sure what AD changed to)

I believe in God. I also believe in certain aspects of Evolution. It really depends on the person, I'm not a big fan of extremes, though.

Yes, it is CE - Common Era, and BCE - Before the Common Era. I see no need for it. I despise political correctness.

i believe that there is a scientific explanation of creationism.. i mean the creation of our universe and living beings must have had a certain number of factors involved, in religions these superior entities are refered to as gods, in science we have yet to find an answer (i think?). Just imagine the 2D world of a paper, the creations on our paper will never be able to comprehend our existence or anything out of the paper itself since we live in a higher dimension than that of theirs. Similarly I believe there are forces or entities of other dimensions that helped formed our universe or our very being that we will probably never be able to comprehend.

You know what? I think we're all right! And if it was creationism then lets all just accept eachother because if it really was creationism and God created us, it can also be destroyism and if we're not nice he can slown us with his superior slownage.

^_^ Exactly Jokerboy.
Do we really care about the answer?? Isn't what really matters is how we get to the answer? Personally I never really want to know the truth. THink about it this way.: If we knew the anwser we wouldn't have half the discussions and professions we do on evo vs religion. I'd rather be having a convo go in circles forever then know the answer. Not knowing the answers to things is what makes us want to know the answers. (Seems dumb I know), but for example if we knew the answer to the meaning of life do you think 3/4 of us would be here right now? I think not, and with out answers we have something to discuss for ages.
