Wow, perhaps my slowdown is my cache.

Hi.

I was just reading a post in this forum about adding '?foo' at the end of the url, and I'm telling you my webpage loaded fast....

I'm using Firefox, and I have a high powered dial up service (I know, I'm going more grey because of it), and I'm using a cache addon for firefox to beef up my page loading speed. So now I know what is causing my problem, and it's my cache.

Thanks for the great tip guys....it always pays to read all posts, you never know what you'll find out.

Cheers, and thanks guys!

As a side note, make sure you understand what ?foo will do to a page. It's not unreasonable that a programmer will use ?foo as input to the program, which could generate an error (not a HTTP 4XX/5XX error, but an error on the page). Don't be surprised if it has an effect. It's a quick and dirty trick, but clearing your browser's cache is the way to go when in doubt.

Hi.

Okay thank you. I'll stick to clearing the cache to be on the safe side. Anymore useful tidbits?

Later, and thanks again for the help.

Re: Wow, perhaps my slowdown is my cache.

I think I'm fresh out of tricks. There isn't much to learn unless you want the really tough technical stuff I don't know myself. Query strings such as ?foo are a way of passing data between your computer and the server. Almost every site, even this forum, uses them, but like this forum they get hidden a lot for various reasons. http://x10hosting.com/forums?t=147085 is really what the server thinks you're looking at (that link won't work... I must be missing another parameter). So, you never know what you're telling a server if you pass random data.

I'll stop rambling now :p

Haaaaaaa, alright that's funny. :)

Okay, got ya. Maybe later when I have more time I'll take a peek at it.

I have come across a much more not so serious problem with my Sub-Domain...I'll make another post...Ah the trouble I bring to the world when I open my saggy eyelids....

Cheers...
