I have just installed fedora core 6 and am trying to install some nvidia display drivers.

the install says i need to shut down the X-Server. I know what it is but i don't know how to close it. Can any one help me please ?

Also i can't get my screen resolution above 800x600, the new drivers should help right ?

X-Server is the graphics part.

Simply boot into a different run-level which doesn't use it and then install the drivers by the terminal, and reboot as per normal.

I'm sorry, but I've forgotten which runlevel it is or how to change it.
A quick look through the Fedora documentation should help you find the run-level options.
