- slower websites (more traffic for bigger sites)
- Tailored for:
- Those that offer file downloads (software, video, mp3s etc.)
- Those that host image galleries (they are notorious for both high bandwidth and high server resources usage)
- Those that contain popular forums
- Portals and other types of communities
- Adult websites
- Chats

I do not see why free hosting needs unlimited space and bandwidth. X10 should focus on getting more up time instead.

File download sites, image hosts as well as Adult oriented websites would be dealt with via a suspension. It's going unmetered mainly so users no longer have to worry about a bandwidth limit or disk limit. Of course, there's a huge difference between unlimited and unmetered. As of right now you can already abuse the servers enough, though measures are being put in to prevent such abuse from harming the performance of the server every day.

Yeah, that's what I first thought.

I mean, I have a basic WordPress site and have it set up so that my pictures that would normally be uploaded to WordPress and be hosted from my site (x10's server) are offloaded to Picasa. My transfer should be minimal. And then there's the guys that max out their space and transfer and have all sorts of taxing features enabled that they would normally have to pay for if it weren't for x10s generous limits. And now they want to make it unmetered? Heh...

It looks like the OP has been here for a week. Welcome! I've been here for ~1.5 months and boy is it a pain to set up any kind of site when page loads take tens of seconds or times out half the time! From my Pingdom monitoring, it looks like it's getting better, but it may just get as bad or worse again with things being unmetered (they sound confident in their decision so we'll see).

I hope we eventually will have unlimited addon domains. Anyways, i only have fantastico.. lol am i missing out on somthing
