File download problem

I have uploaded a xml and an exe file of my software on my website... these two files are available for public download, but when i type them in the browser, the browser starts opening them instead of downloading, and also most of the time it says 404 file not found although the file is there. any suggestion on how to resolve this???

you should upload these files as archive such as .zip or .rar then they will directly download form the site...the other way is you should download them with download manager....
such as IDM Flash get etc
