Beta 1 for the next generation Firefox browser is now available to download. Version 1.5 is due to be released this year, but Beta 1 allows you to get a first glimpse at some of the enhancements the Mozilla team are hoping to include in the next version of the browser.

Included in Beta 1 is a now updated “Automated Update” feature, allowing users to update the browser with updates less than half a megabyte or smaller. There has also been an improvement to how extensions are updated. Also included in Deer Park is the ability to drag and drop browser tabs so that they can be put in any order.

Other notable improvements include an advanced popup blocker and faster browsing through better backwards and forwards buttons. Beta 1 also includes the latest security enhancements. Beta 1 (Deer Park) is available to download from the Mozilla homepage.

Wow! So fast.
Orginally it is just at 1.0.X track.
Eager to see what's huge difference the new Firefox is.

The 1.0.X track was just the security updates. Just look at Mozilla's site and see the changelog.

I'm using Deer Park right now, and I have been since it was on WikiNews.

Deerpark has a bit of a problem I think right now.

"A buffer overflow vulnerability exists within Firefox version 1.0.6 and all other prior versions which allows for an attacker to remotely execute arbitrary code on an affected host," wrote Ferris both on a posting to his own Web site and one to the Full Disclosure security mailing list.

A malicious Web site could insert the HTML proof-of-concept code made public to crash Firefox; attackers could take advantage of the buffer overflow to insert code to, for instance, grab complete control of the machine.

"We’re looking into the problem," said Mozilla's Schroepfer, "and we'll respond with a patch as quickly as possible." Schroepfer also confirmed that the just-released Firefox 1.5 Beta 1 is vulnerable to the bug as well as the production 1.0.6 version.

Yeah im using it right now and I think they have a patch for that somewhere bigguy.

Does anyone know how to edit the top taskbar where it says Mozilla Firefox Beta 1

The beta 1 is annoying me lol, and I cant seem to find any option to change it, unless I have to do some editing of the config files.

And a fix, patch it here.

Edit: Or do it manually.

1. Type about:config into the address field and hit Enter.
2. In the Filter toolbar, type network.enableIDN.
3. Right click on the the network.enableIDN item and select toggle to change value to false.
