You have to move everything that is in the phpbb3 folder to the public_html folder and then change the paths that are in the script.

not to correct you but i installed a few scripts in that directory and had the same thing happen...I ended up having to do a "redirect" for it to work. See the problem is is that even when you install to the public folder ur site address will still show that folder on the end...give it a try to see what I mean

Why would it show that on the end. ??? If it does I would say they should get rid of that bug in their software.

umm bc thats the way it is when you have to install it to another folder. This has been the case for me for ...
-vbull
-smf
-phpbb
-ipb

**LOL ive been playing around w/ scripts trying to find the one I like the best (not vbull though)

see the problem with the install to ur public folder is that the site needs to be directed to the index.php file for the script which would be in ur ..well say php folder
hence "http://yoursite.pcriot.com/php"

When you goto just the http://yoursite.pcriot.com it will take u to ur home dir unless you setup a redirect

I have had SMF installed in my public_html folder with no problems many a time. I do not really understand what you are trying to say but as a staff member of simplemachines.org I can tell you SMF will install to your public_html with no problems at all.

I've used phpbb before and only had this issue once more. Though, as for moving the stuff out of the phpbb3 folder I did that and I got an error and it also sent me to www.weedsofdreams.com/adm which would be the admin folder in the phpbb3 folder.

After you move it you must change the paths in the script to point to the new location. SMF has a file called "repair_settings.php" that you upload and it will change all the paths for you automatically. I am not sure how phpbb does it. You might want to check their website on how to move a forum to the root directory. (public_html)

I got it to work, I had a feeling I was missing something and I was litterally. I dont know if this would be your problem as well zero. But when I uploaded the phpbb3 file then moved everything out of it into the public file..i never had the files that where physically in the phpbb3 file besides the other folders. So i manually pulled those and stuck them into the public file then followed with the rest of the folders. Now that may or may not have been the problem but it worked. Not to mention in the script path I had to delete the / in order for it to go straight to www.weedsofdreams.com. now im not sure if that was it either..but either way it worked.

so what ur saying is that instead of having the "folder" in the piblic file you put the "files" that were in the folder in the public file? If so then I will try it later...thanks and sorry to all for the misunderstanding!

That is exactly what I was saying. You don't move the folder but it's contents. :)

I am not sure what you mean. Did you take all the files and folders out of the phpbb3 directory and put them in the public_html folder. ???
