Which is the best forum program for website. For know I only know of vbulletin, phpbb, and smf. Which one do you think is betterm or can you reccomend me something better than those i listed above.

SMF is the absolute, 100% best in my opinion. Is just the all-around best.

SMF is nice and light, not bad if you don't want a forum with all the funky functions, especially good on x10 since its less resource intensive

SMF if you want a good free forum. vbulletin if you don't mind paying. Both very nice forums.

I really like SMF. Works great and easy to use and set up. It also works well with Tiny Portal, if you want to add pages to your site.

Looks like people prefer SMF over phpbb. I guess ill experiment with smf for now.

I've used SMF once, and practiced with it a bit. There is not much wrong with it, but I just perfer PhpBB over SMF.

I think PhpBB is more customizable than SMF, and has more features.

We have a large mod database for phpbb.... smf isn't that great.
Phpbb open source and fully customisable.

SMF is nice, but I'm using phpbb. I would use vBulliten but I refuse to pay out the arse for it.

SmF , no doubt is nice but it does not have too many customisations as phpbb.

I like vBulletin, but it's costly for a private site like mine. phpBB seems to have the best community support and the like, but I've been turned off ever since the highlight XSS debacle. I've also been using SMF for quite some time, and I'm used to it.

SMF has had quite a few problems...

The best one to use is vBulletin, you have to pay, but its very good - in fact your looking at an example right now! Its fully customizable and everything.

If your looking for a good free one though then i would recomend PHPbb which is very good - i have had 3 years experience with it and its never failed me so i should know

I would have to say phpBB is the best by far. I recently downloaded the phpBB3 Release Candidate and I must say it is amazing. The admin control panel is a bit more advanced than phpBB2, but the features and support is wonderful.

I recomend IPB(Invision Power Board). it has many mods and a good admin control panel. i havent tried vbuletin yet but if rom smf and from phbb i rather use phbb because smf have hard controls. though from phbb2 and 3 phbb3 have hard controls also. but from all of the rest, IPB has good controls and is easy to manage for both admin/member panels. the only bad thing i dont want from IPB is when you install mods it can ruin your board.

Both are best.

I would say phpBB3 is the best out of all of them for two simple reasons.
1. It has the largest Modifications Database.
2. Its YES NO NEVER permission system allows a higher degree of flexibility and customization when giving permissions to users.
