Forums Or Portals?

Do you prefer using portals or forums?
Which do you think appeals to the users most?

It depends on what you have. Forums are more interactive to my perspective than portals, and the only portals I've really only seen are things that are include/extra features to forum software that pulls data from a forum and can be used on a homepage.

Yeah but that looks attractive and may have a higher response, because forums have become too common, and portals change the look abit , I think!

Well, then you've got a point then. I'd have to agree that there are too many forums out there, and that I think 15% of them are dead, especially on those free forum hosts. Otherwise, the portals are nice, as they allow you to make pretty much an entire site powred by the forum, much how you can run an entire site using WordPress, Joomla, etc.

I mostly like thee modules they incorporate, like statistics, your posts, an avatar panel, latest posts, latest news displays, etc it looks good and you get better info on the forums.

Portals can make the forum attractive and more informative, i think so...

I only use my own scripts. If I need a forum in my project, I'll code it myself.
