FTP fail

Hi
I get as far as the password but then it always fails. Of course I have reset the password several times and retyped it in filezilla.

Command: PASS ***********
Response: 530 Login authentication failed
Error: Critical error
Error: Could not connect to server

Can anyone help?

One odd thing is that when I edit the FTP credentials then click Save Changes, the "Modify FTP account" window does not automatically close. Should it?

I'm using Filezilla 3.7.3 running on Ubuntu 14.04. The other FTP settings are
Prtocol: FTP
Encryption: Require explicit FTP over TLS
Logon type: Normal

Hi

I have still not managed to fix this.

Is anyone else succeeding in logging in to ftp server?

I suspect the password software may have broken down.
