FTP for HTML, etc. Files

Where do I send my HTML, etc? I FTP'd to ftp.erinsart.x10hosting.com and got directory listings, but was this righth? Couldn't transfer files for some reason. Didn't know which folder to put them in either...and default.htm, index.htm, index.html...what's the accepted "start" page in a directory? Thanks...if there's a getting started guide on this, just point the way. Thanks for any help.

You login to FTP

Address: erinsart.x10hosting.com
Port: 21
Username: your cPanel username
Pass: your pass

Upload your files to public_html
