1. To access FTP through Internet Explorer, read this: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306781
I haven't used IE's built in FTP client in ages.. if you're using IE6 and below that article should help.. but if you're using IE7, it's FTP capability isn't functional

(I use the FireFox extension FireFTP to do any FTP transfers)

2. Never heard of FTP commander.. maybe someone else can help you with that

1) Don't use IE for FTP transfers its slow as hell!
2) Never heard of it...maybe try something like AceFTP or FireFTP like Erik mentioned. Basically find a well known respectable FTP program.

I'm pretty sure IE's FTP client is pretty slow. And I too, have never heard of FTP commander. However, I happen to like SmartFTP Client, which is free for non-commercial use. The interface looks kinda like Windows Explorer, and transferring files is just drag and drop, really.

As for figuring out your FTP settings and stuff, go to your cpanel (there's a link to it in your x10hosting account created! email), click on FTP Manager under "site Management" and then you can see what address you need to connect to (usually ftp.yoursubdomainhere.x10hosting.com or ftp.yoursubdomainhere.exofire.net). In SmartFTP, just type that address in, along with your cpanel username and password, and you should be good to go. It's pretty simple after a while. :)

You can ftp through My computer>My Network Places

Click add network place, type in site, and it asks you for username and pw.

I also reccommend cuteftp too ;)

I'm using Filezilla, I don't think there's a huge difference between all those clients,
as long as it works I'm happy
