Hello Everyone and thanks for having me! Looks like a nice operation, hope to get the swing of things and remain for many moons.
As a new user to this site and relatively inexperienced at running websites I am running into difficulties, some of which I have overcome already. It has been 8 years since I ran my own site, and after a few hosts disappeared into the night I just never rebuilt or ran one since. On the flip side I learned fortran back in the early '80's and have been building pc's since the mid 80's, but am by no means a code writer.
I have spent hours poking around the
http://forums.x10hosting.com/x10hosting/
and find the search function to be of zero help. Everything I try results in
"The answer given for the random question was incorrect."
In the
http://support.x10hosting.com/
Searches produce similar
"Sorry, we were unable to find any results for the given search phrase."
EDIT: I think I just discovered why I got no results ... DOH!
and the downloads section of support
http://support.x10hosting.com/index.php?_m=downloads&_a=view
states that it is organized into categories, I see nothing and using the search function
comes up empty as well.
I tried to use the ReptileSitebuilder and could not log in no matter what, even changed passwords
http://sitebuilder.x10hosting.com
Warning!
Username or Password incorrect.
Maybe I messed that up by exploring the sitebuilder as a guest my first time there,
not realizing that I just needed my password to log on.
I though it may be Firefox that was handling all this wrong,
but a switch to IE provided the same results. Oh, I get an error opening the secure web disk, IE could not open.... guess I need to open some ports for that.
I did read the Getting Started and Faq's and found some nuggets poking around
the forums to get some things rolling.
I managed to get the email up and running and even have Thunderbird 3.0 as a client,
so if someone needs some help with that I got that going for me. Though there is a problem using
Horde, Squirrel worked fine.
I also managed to get Filezilla up and running too.
For what it is worth, I am using win7 ultimate and utilize as much opensource as I can.
Everything used should have the latest updates.
When I get it running it will be Ethereal-Imagery.co.cc highlighting some of the photos I have taken over the years. If I get the hang of it there will be more to come.
Any advice, guides or links to solutions to these start up issues would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all and best wishes.
