Hi, I've made this site mainly for the SQL and PHP.
Reason: I'm trying to develop an ORPG in Visual Basic.net, Java Web applets and PHP, and since they all have to use the same database, MySQL would be the easiest I could think of.
I won't be active on the forums allot, just once every 2 weeks to keep my site up (or unless I want to share something of course), but I'll post my progress every now and then here.
I'll explain the game a bit:
The game will be placed in a user-defined environment.
For those who don't know what it is, here is a brief explanation:
"Whenever you dig a hole in the ground, the ground will remain dug 'till eternity, or untill someone puts ground back in. Another example: the map will be completely empty in the start of the game, and people can actually plant trees, cut them, get wood, build logs, pick some flowers (like 1 to 2 basic seeds are given at start), make rope, seed a tree, but a treehouse. and both the tree and the treehouse will remain there untill someone is mean enough to chop down the tree you worked on for a month (yea, need to find a way to fix that xD)."
The game will be located in a 2D Graphics style, with a mix of ancient, fantasy and sci-fi genres (depending on whatever the users manage to get from the resources).
This game will take around atleast half a year to become even launched, but untill then, I'm sure people will be waiting for it (well, people interested in user-defined environments).
The map, as said before, will start off with a completely grass field, and a tiny little city located 100 maps off of the borders of the game.
Yea, most of you will be thinking by now: What if those maps are fully build?
I guess, by then, people found out how to build into the sky, and live underground (or I coded it in xD), and the game would be (literally) taken to a whole new level.
I'm not going into it any further, since the ideas come and go, and I don't like people to expect something that won't be there eventually.
Oh btw, my name is Anasky (New Future will be the game name), and I'll be building the engine from scratch.
Greetings, Anasky.
