help coding my site

so i tried coding my site, using the old css and index file from my site, and im getting it pretty good, but theres 2 tiny problems.

1). I can't get the left and right images of the nav bar.
2). In the announce box, theres is a 1-3px space in the middle of it.

i put the index/css in a subdomain so you can see the problems.

also, theres no psd, but theres a xcf, because i used gimp

also, problem 2 only occurs in firefox, the whole thing barely works in IE
