help connecting to phpMyAdmin - really need help , thanks

when i try opening phpMyAdmin it says
phpMyAdmin - Error
Cannot start session without errors, please check errors given in your PHP and/or webserver log file and configure your PHP installation properly.
how do i fix this?? please help! thank you!
