Hey.....................

Everytime I try to watch a movie or clip on google video and you tube, it stops, and a pop up comes up stating this..........

Internet Exlporer has encountered a problem with an add-on and needs to close.

File: Flash86.ocx
Company Name: Macromedia Inc.
Description: Flash Player 8

and then I need to press OK, and then the whole page closes. How can I stop this so I can finally enjoy some of these hilarious videos. Thanks for any help

well depending on the OS you're running...98 can run up to 5.5 i believe, 2000 can run up to 6.0, and XP/Vista runs on IE 7 (if vista, this is default, but in XP, you might not have upgraded, as IE 7 just came out final for XP)

OK......I appreciate you trying to help Chris Z, However, can you put your questions into a more simplified version, or at least start off with basic questions, because to be quite honest, I have no idea what your trying to ask me or trying to explain to me. Im not really all that computerized.....lol.....Thanks for all your help....

and Trixter, Im pretty sure there isnt a virus because wouldnt that be effecting my whole computer, not just this one small aspect? Thanks for everyone whos helped. I know there is a corruption in the video player, but this corruption occurs every time I go to play something....Thanks a lot

And no there are some virus's that dont effect the whole computer justr a small aspect of the computer(like a flash player) they are rare but they do exist

youtube uses flash video so your standard video player wount effect it. thats y you have to have a flash player

All right, to check your version of Internet Explorer:

Help menu > About Internet Explorer

If there is no menu bar, you're probably using IE7. If there's tabs, you're probably using IE7.

And, a virus could have corrupted your install of Flash.

Reinstall Adobe Flash from http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash
. First, you might want to uninstall Flash.

Why aren't you using another browser anyways? ;)

Easiest (and best) way to avoid this problem would be to install firefox and see if you still receive some sort of error on these pages..
