Why do I use Avast?
Alwil Software is a company which theorizes that virus outbreaks can be better contained if 100% of computer users use efficient antivirus systems. Thus, they have released a free version of their great software that updates daily and runs quietly.
So why pay 60 dollars for a program that hijacks your machine with many running proccesses, hogs your resources and doesn't catch all that many trojans? You my friend are an idiot, just because they have the virus signatures doesn't mean their on-access scanner can detect it then. Avast's does, Avast has a web scanner, on-access, virus scan, mail scan, instant messenger and peer to peer application scanner. All running active at the same time and using .12% of the CPU. How much does Norton's use? How much does McAfee use?
I've used Norton's in the past, sure it was a decent antivirus, but you need more. I've used AVG, F-Secure, McAfee, Kaspersky and even ZoneAlarm with the antivirus. None of those stack up to the scanning ability, on-access ability nor the updates of Avast.
I proudly stand for open source products and devolpment. But you if you still think I'm this virus infected idiot, then you're the idiot.
Yes, Norton's has got better, and do you know why? No. Well I'll tell you. Symnatec is now moving open source, they have more people finding the bugs in their software. But they don't lower the price.
60 dollars for a crappy piece of computer hijacking software or a great antivirus with all the features. You be the judge.
