help with welcomre index file

hi guy's, i have a problem with the welcome index file. i have created my site on dreamweaver and have done all the ftp settings and the site uploads, i can see the files in the public folder, but when i go to my site it is still the welcome screen and tells me to replace the indexing file which i thought i had.
please help thanks...

Did you take the index.html or index.php out of the folder? basically what i mean is it should be something like this. home/youraccountname/public_html/index.html or php


That can't be in a folder or the website won't read it. Post a URL if you would please.

I'm not showing the default index page, try doing a hard refresh by hitting SHIFT+F5 or CTRL+F5
