That is sometimes very hard to do, which is why I instead go to the Run dialog and type msconfig, and then click the BOOT.INI tab and check the box for /SAFEBOOT. Then you can restart normally, and after you're done you can just go back and uncheck the box before rebooting so you can go back into normal mode.try rebooting, hit F8 and go into safe mode
