high system resource usage

My account has been suspended for the third time in about the last 24 hours. The reason being high system resource usage. I've been working on a php script and if I run it for 30 seconds it will continue to run for over an hour after is has been closed out on the server.

I've tried everything to fix this and don't know how this server handles script. I've added
ignore_user_abort(false); and a time limit which have no effect and I cannot explain why the script keeps running on exit.:dunno:

Is there any thing I can add to prevent this from happening again and resolve my suspension?
