The server load for absolut.x10hosting.com is skyrocketing. I just saw it reach past 21.00, and nothing at all is loading.

I close all my MySQL connections and try to conserve. I've hardly used my account yet, I'm still working on it. Is someone killing the server with an overload of queries and commands, or is the server just backing up or something?

There are times during the day when system processes and user processes cause a higher load - however, usually a load of 20 shouldnt prevent access, except in times when it seems somethings hammering the firewall - in that senario the firewall takes offense and it does grind a little.

We do actively take steps against people we find causing issues, however, its not always as simple as pointing a finger to any 1 user or cause.

As for advice.

It depends a lot on your skill and your site - for example, if you have a fluid site but only a couple of people can update data - eg maybe a reference site, or something that makes announcements etc, rather than a forum etc.. You could consider instead of each page being accessed straight out of the database, on saving to the database get it to create static copies of the newly updated pages, then its just a case of returning flat html to the readers, thus the load on the server is as little as you will ever get - except for the small time when its updated where its written to db and to file but even thats not much
