how do I determine my hosting username?

I am trying to access my site using an FTP software, but it requires a username and password. Where do I look if I want to find my username? I tried using my email address (which is what I use to sign in) but it doesn't work.

Take a look at your home directory entry in cPanel. It will be /home/<your cPanel user name>
