How do POP3 servers work?

I downloaded a POP3 server and I have no clue to work it, how do I view my e-mail with it, and what would the e-mail address be?

would it be:

me@my ip adress

or something else?

is suggest you read the manual/documention/config file for it as step one

you probably need to create an account

your email address would be
account name@localhost or whatever your domain or ip is

if you want more help i suggest you give us more information on what server eg Name of Software and OS
