How to install e107 CMS on your website?
E107 software is not included in the Fantastico automated installation tool. That is why its installation is relatively more complicated.
Pre-installation Process
Step 1: The first step is to download the desired version of E107. E107 can be downloaded from here.
Step 2: Once you have downloaded the release you want, you can upload it to your account using the File Manager tool or via FTP (How to use FTP). In order to install e107 with the File Manager, please, log into your cPanel from your Customer area, find File Manager icon and extract e107_x_x.tar.gz file into the desired folder. By clicking on the name of file that you uploaded it will load another page that has a few tabs on it click on Extract File Contents to extract the file in the directory that it resides in.
Please, note that if you would like it to load when you use www.yourdomain.com you will have to extract it to your public_html folder. If you exctart E107 in a folder for example /public_html/e107 it will load when you type www.yourdomain.com/e107 or you can easily create a subdomain with you cPanel > Subdomains. When a Subdomain is created if it is e107.yourdomain.com it will create a directory /public_html/e107 and in that case you will be able to load your e107 using e107.yourdomain.com.
Step 3: Database setup:
Please, check our MySQL tutorial, to see how to create MySQL database and user and how to link them together.
Step 4: The next step in preparing to install you applicatoin is to create a database and username from cPanel > MySQL databases. After the database is creater assign it with the appropriate username (the one that you already dreated or an existing one).
e107 Installation Process
After all of the above steps are done you can proceed with the installation. Let us say that you extracted the E107 package in your /public_html directory.
Step 1: In order to begin the installation, please type www.yourdomain.com in the address bar of your web browser. The language that the installation comes with is English so on the first step just click the "Set Language" button.
Step 2: On the second step you will be asked to enter database that the applicatoin will use. Do not mark the the "Create" check box that is after "MySQL Database:" because the database that you will need is already created in the Step 3 from the tutorial. For a second in your browser will appear a page that will say that the database is not created. That is because you will use an exiting database.
In the next two steps you will have only to click the continue button if all the above steps are accopmlished correct.
Step 3: Connection to the MySQL server will be established and verified.
Step 4: The PHP & MySQL versions and the file permissions will be checked.
Step 5: During the next step of the installation you will be asked for the Administrator Details. After that step you will receive the confirmation for your new e107 installation congratilations.
Troubleshooting Tips: There is only one more thing you should do in order for your e107 to be installed correctly: For security reasons please remove install.php from the e107 directory and set the permissions of the e107_config.php to 644 with your File Manager or your favorite FTP client. To select the file you should click on its name.
