Unique content, a unique service, or a unique product can very quickly get you moved up to at or near the top in search engine listings. An example of this would be a website I have about a very small community in Texas which is listed number one on Google search and gets a lot of visitors because the subject and content of the site is unique. If you are attempting to sell a product or service your site will be much more popular if the product or service is either unique or rare.
Everything you need is SEO (Search Engine Optimization). No matter what is the information in your site and what is its purpose. You only need to fool the Search Engine that your website is best.
If your sole of purpose of setting up a website is SEO, then it won't work in the long run!
You can't fool SE for forever.
