How to make your computer safer especially Windows - use restricted account or drop your rights. Its important to create restricted user accounts even though you are an experienced user as it give added security to the operating system, basically it cuts off a vast majority of malware, and prevent them to do any harm. Alternatively, you can choose to run certain critical applications (such as network-enabled application like browser, FTP, email & P2P clients etc) with restricted rights, while being on an administrator account. How? Just deploy the DropMyRights tool designed by Michael Howard, a Microsoft employee. Its basically a free program that greatly increases the security of Windows by running selected programs in a restricted environment (i.e. with lower rights) even when logged on to Windows as an Administrator. You can download the tool here or at Microsoft. Do check out the other methods that restrict program rights at Firewallleaktester or here.
