For those of you who own HP laptops, I have a question... do you have meany probelms with things going wrong like frequent unexpected and sudden crashes? I've only had my HP for about two or three years and already it's crashed like 10 times.

I have a compaq presario (owned by HP) and i had to get the motherbord replaced(long story, thankfully it was covered by warranty). This started from the computer suddenly reseting because of an apicec error and shonky advice on the HP and microsoft websites.

My laptop started giving me problems a month or two after I got it. It got to the point that it wouldn't stay on... when I turned it on it would start to load and then it would just restart. Luckly I was able to fix it but it still gives me problems. I didn't know if it was just my computer or if all HPs gave this much trouble.

I have an HP laptop, I made a really big post about it titled "I HATE HP!" somewhere in the offtopic forum, you should search for it, and read it. In any event, I started having problems the first week I had it, it BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) on the first week! Eventually, I have had to re-format my HD at least 20 times. Now, that I am smarter, I figured out to call and complain to HP, and they sent me a new HD, it didn't work, so, I used my 3 yr warranty at Best Buy to get it repaired (note, this was the third time I had sent it in), and now, I am on, and it works fine. It happened to have a bad Cd-ROM and and it wouldn't except 30 GB HDs, so they can me a bigger one, free of charge..... In any event, HP is the worst computer company I have ever used, taking into consideration that my mom's computer is HP, and it generally sucks @$$, as well as the printer, that errors out every day....

Conclusion, HP sucks.

yeah my mom's friend worked for HP.. the most common in-warranty repair was for the motherboard. whether desktop or laptop, they all had motherboard issues.

Ugh... if I had know HP computer were such pieces of crap, I would have gotten a different brand of laptop. Another fine example of 'hindsight is better than foresight'. *sighs*

In order to get the extended warranty you have to have a credit card, though, and right now my mum doesn't have one.

yah, an extended warrenty is good to have...

i have a HP laptop and it works fine... it hasnt crashed yet and i have had it for 8 months. I also have a compaq laptop and that has crashed more times than it has, and i have only had that one for around 5 months... so you know, i just dont get it anymore, used to be so easy to destinguish bad computer comapnies from good ones, now its hard again.

Anymore, you just have to buy a computer, cross your fingers, and hope it's a good one...
