Considering most of these company's just plug stuff together then put it in a box, im gona go with asus, as they make good motherboards.

Hybrid. :) My last 2 computers have been hybrids that were built for me and both of them have been the bomb, especially my current system. If I HAD to choose however, Dell all the way.

I like Dell as they put good things in the computers straight away.
All of them though, if there is something you don't like you can usually just open the computer up and buy a new better part to put in it.

Dell; their new Dimension/Vostro series is beautiful. Only thing I don't like is how the rear PCI slots are configured.. it's kind of awkward

Its surprising me that there are even any other options than custom self-built -,-
Best bang for the buck

Dell for out-of-box ease for the casual user (or un-computer savvy relatives). I prefer to build my own... ASUS motherboards work best for me.

Non of the above LOL, home-brewed everytime. I also build for all my mates and family, I can usually build your ideal PC for way less than you pay the so called 'big brands' the machines are also usually way better at their job because im able to build for the purpose rather than for general release.

I can't stand HP, and Dell's gotten pretty boring since that's what they use in all the schools. I prefer making my own. If I HAD to buy a brand, I would go for Alienware, naturally. xD

Also, I'm moving this to Computers and Technology.

If i really had to buy a pre-built then it would be an HP, had 2 of them and NEVER had any problems. But i prefer to build my own as its usually cheaper and i can configure it how I want it.

Packard Bell Laptop, which works really fine (after removing all the Packard Bell Spyware). Haven't encountered a problem ever.

Desktop is home-brewed :)

I can't get linux working on the Packard Bell laptop (the wifi has only Windows 32-drivers), but the desktop runs debian.
