I was fooling around and I acidently deleted my htaccess file and now i am getting this error in my error log.

"[Sat Nov 3 20:58:11 2007] [error] [client 72.224.109.27] File does not exist: /home/eboyer/public_html/500.shtml"

also i get a 500 internal server error when ever i try and go to my site.

I'm able to see the default index of your site. You have to upload your site within the specified amount of time. Regarding .htaccess file, this page can help you getting started with it.
