Hi everyone,

I have had a site hosted here free for a couple of years. Recently I've begun to look at increasing my web access Security on my home computer (G4 iMac running OSx 10.4.11 [Tiger]) Its not an area I know much about but having looked into it it seems that many of the commercial VPN providers don't really support the Tiger os. I've begun to think maybe I can set the thing up myself.

So, my question is can I use my free x10hosting account as a type of proxy? Can I use Apache to create an http or SSL gateway? I only intend to run a single link from my home computer to the internet, I'm not intending it for anything other than personal web surfing and general internet use.

I notice that x10 are now offering the option of a VPS account. Would I be better suited buying one of these and running a tunnel through that? - Is such a practice even permitted on the x10 servers?

Sorry if my questions seem a little confused but as I said, I've only just started looking into the encryption / tunnel stuff.

Any feedback / suggestions would be gratefully received,

Thanks,

Dot.
