I can't install fusion news

i can't install fusion news to my site, the installer URL gives me a 500 error.

is it the version of PHP the conflict?

The version of PHP may be causing the conflict, make sure that the script is compatible with the version of PHP on the server. If it's not, there may be patches and such out there.
