It's illegal. Blizzard has been getting really tough on the private server owners too, shutting them down one by one with massive lawsuits.

Did I mention it's illegal? Aka against the law?

It's like using a un-licensed vBulletin, or downloading "warez", if you get caught you're in a whole lot of trouble.

runescape is a whole different story though, i beleive i read somewhere as long as it doesnt interfere with the official servers, it is allowed
