index not working correctly

I have my index page in my root folder of pope.pcriot.com under public_html but it takes me to a page that is an index of pope.pcriot.com and then it has a list of everything in my public_html folder then you have to click on Index.html to get to to load my site how do i make it load my Index.html when someone visits Pope.pcriot.com instead of the index of page

make the i lower case in index.html

linux is case sensitive

ok does that mean i will have to update all of my links?

anything that links to index.html will have to be updated yes

ok I changed the I to an i but when i go my site it still have the index of page and the Index.html isnt lowercase also it doesnt go to index.html

ok one more odd thing i just noticed im updating the links and i got hte front page to work but if i click an old link to Index.html that hasnt been fixed yet the old page still exists why is that?

again try refreshing the page... otherwise you code change didn't save

ok ill try that but it had to have saved for the lowercase one to be effective and eliminating the index of page and thank you very much for your help i think the server is just extremely slow at moving files around and such = )
