What You Need
- Joomla Download: Get it here
- Filezilla or File Manager in your control panel
- Database
Uploading Files
I am using the cPanel File Manager
1. Login to your control panel (In this case I have cPanel)
2. Navigate to your file manager
3. Go to the Directory you wish to put it in (in this example I'm adding it to the Joomla directory)
4. Upload the file you downloaded from Joomla
5. Extract the compressed file
Pre Installation
1. In your control panel navigate to Databases
2. Choose MYSQL Database Wizard (This only applies if you have cPanel all other control panels may be different)
3. Enter the name you want for the database and continue and enter the name you want for the database user and password)
4. Grant ALL Privileges to the user
5. Copy down the information you entered
MOST HOSTS USES LOCAL HOST AS THE DATABASE HOST IF LOCALHOST DOESN'T WORK CONTACT YOUR HOST
Installation
1. Navigate to the web installer (This will be the directory you uploaded and extracted the compressed file)
2. Enter the Site Name, Site Description, Admin Email, Admin Username & Admin Password
CLICK IMAGE FOR FULL SIZE
3. Enter your database information
CHOOSE EITHER MYSQLI OR MYSQL
CLICK IMAGE FOR FULL SIZE
4. Review all the information on the overview page to verify it's all correct
5. If you want the configuration you put sent to your email just click yes
6. If you want sample articles and content added choose the type from the list
CLICK IMAGE FOR FULL SIZE
7. Click Install
8. Once the install is complete click Remove Install Directory
9. You have now completed the install process
