The first thing you should do to rule out any problems is upgrade your PHP version to v2(Intermediate). You can do this at your account panel.
http://x10hosting.com/login <-- Use your FORUM user\pass.

Regarding the rest of the installation, there should be a document that comes with the files explaining step by step. Usually called install or readme

I have just upgraded to Intermediate. But however, I can not get the PHP files onto my ccount through FTP. The config file it supplies for FileZilla, doesn't work. How should I do this then?

You can use the file manager in your cPanel.

I've never used it but I know a lot of our members have; In cPanel there is a file manager, I'm assuming it's pretty easy to use.

Any files you want the public to see you put in your public_html folder.

Also anything you can't figure out try searching the forums for, we have A LOT of posts and most questions have already been answered.

You can also try searching google with 'tutorial' after what you're looking for. Example: 'cpanel upload tutorial' or 'filezilla tutorial'

Pretty sure installing PhpBB 2 is the same as PhpBB3. Anyway what you want to do is zip up the contents of your PHPBB2 folder, with all the files and stuff, then log into your cpanel and click the "Legacy File Manager" then click ok on the window that pops up. Now you're at a list of your files on your account. Next click new folder name it "Forums" or w/e you want it to be called. Then click the folder icon next to taht folder to go into it. Then upload your .zip file you made earlier (by clicking upload files, then browse and finding it). After you've done that there should be a zip file in your forums folder.. click that then on the right click "Execute Contents ? (Something like that)". Then you're going to need to make a MYSQL Database for the forums. So go into the main Cpanel window and click mysql database wizard, that's pretty self explanatory. Then open a new tab or window in your internet browser and go to yourwebsite.host.com/forums. That should begin the installer, basically there isn't anything you really have to do to the settings but when you get to the MYSQL database things where it says database name type in the name you picked for you DB mine for example was forums but since my cpanel name is icecoldc the actual database is icecoldc_forums so type in whatever you have there. Same for username include your cpanel name as the prefix for example icecoldc_account. Password is whatever you picked, no special prefixes or anything. Anddd.. I think that's all, the rest is self explanatory in the installer, and it usually will say "Default = asdfasdf only change if you know you have to" Don't mess around with those unless you know you have to :p.

After you have done all of that go back into the Legacy File Manager and delete or rename the folder under Forums called "Install". If you don't do that your forums will be vulnerable to hackers.. etc..

I think I explained everything right :p

its easier to upload the zip file and using the file manager to extract it. For me it uploads way faster that way.
