installing skins on smf

ok i need help badly please...how do i install a skin on smf....and also i already check out how do i installed it but..its confusing....talkin about a theme..wats a theme?????? i can't even explain wat im tryin to say..well the one that understood me ....plz help me...:blink::blink::blink::blink::blink::blink::ermm::ermm::ermm::ermm:

upload the theme to the themes in your smf directory folder via FTP or Cpanel. Then go into your admin CP on your smf board and click on Theme and Layout Settings. In the catagory where it says "install a new theme" it will say under that "From a directory on the server:" just fill out where the theme file is located. It usually already says /home/.../public_html/smf2/Themes/
so you just fill in the file name of the them you uploaded right at the end of that line. Hope that helps, if not just reply back here

ok bro u told me that upload my skin in my smf directory folder via ftp or cpanel.......ok wat is that and where can i find it cuz i was lookin on my admin panel and i don't see any of those stuff.

It's called File Manager

Go into your cpanel and find the file manager, once there to navigate the folders you would need to click on the folder icon next to their names (that lets you explore the folder)

To get to cpanel go to subdomain.x10hosting.com/cpanel

ok now im gettin u..i already downloaded the skin in the file manager but the skin is in a zip file??? is that ok???? and wat do u mean to put the name of the file...cuz i put it and din't work...

no you have to uncompress it, click on the zip file in file manager and on the left top side of your screen it will say somthing like unzip this file.

ok bro i did and now is givin me a lot of stuff.....so wat i have to download all of those stuff and upload it in the file manager??????

yup upload it to your themes folder, I would use FTP so you dont have to upload each file individually.

simpler:

DOWNLOAD your skin to a folder.
UPLOAD by ftp to the smf/themes directory
GOTO admin panel
click on them and styles manager
then make sure your directory is chmodded to 777(right click folder in ftp, then file attrivutes on filezilla, numerical value=777), so you can install the .zip file of the theme.

that covered it all.
