imagine that in a regular desktop. it would allow for more features such as sata controllers on a board because u could probably fit it into a smaller socket. what suprises me is the smaller the processors get the more pins u need on the socket and processor. i would guess that u woudl need fewer

Don't expect to see any gaming PCs with 'Atom inside' - it's designed for the low-end market, to say the least. To be more precise, the Atom will be made for clock speeds of 500MHz to 1.8GHz, and it sports only a single core. In other words, it's good for pretty much what Intel markets it for: hand-held devices that require miniaturized components and normal PCs that could perform their functions on a low-end Pentium IV (or high-end Pentium III, depending how you look at it).
