Internal Domain

Hello all,

I am using the x10 provided .x10host.com domain since in the past I have been able to use Perl however it seems it is not currently available.

Is there something in the configuration that needs to be changed either by myself or an Administrator, since the service itself is very good and I was wanting to be able to check if a file (.mp3) exists, as well as filename.

Hope I can be assisted in this regard.

Currently the only CGI scripting language - which is officially supported on x10hosting's free-hosting accounts - is PHP
Perl is NOT supported on x10hosting's free-hosting accounts

Thanks for the shout.

Is there any way I can test this because I have heard this in the past and yet I have been able to get it to work but if it's not enabled by default for new accounts then this is something I'd like to know about.

As I say, the free service is good and currently I am considering a paid account, since there are so many naively parinoid web hosting companies who while they may provide slightly faster hosting; are not up to par with supported software and at the price X10Hosting is charging, it may just be what I need, e.g.

One thing I have found though, it would seem from an outside point-of-view that X10 tend to spend a great amount of time with free hosting and while this (free) tends to break most entrants into the market, they (x10) do seem to be able to make it work, even if there is downtime from time-to-time.

Perl is not a supported scripting language - and should not be working at all for a acount holder - the only supported server-side scripting language on x10hosting's free-Hosting servers is PHP - although a configuration error - during a free-hosting's server upgrade or maintenance - occasionally allow a unsupported feature - before the configuration error is corrected

It is working now via a .pl file, albeit in the cgi-bin folder (a simple hello world script) and it has worked reliably in the pastm however I have not yet tested it via <!--#exec cmd=""> but I will be sure to update you when I do.

If you have Perl working, it is due to a misconfiguration that is likely to be fixed soon. As bdistler has old you several times already, Perl is not supported on the Free Hosting servers. The only reason it's installed at all is because it's needed for certain administrative processes.
